To commemorate the revival of the big red "R" atop the old Rainier Brewery, Rainier beer is inviting the public to an unveiling ceremony today from 4 to 9 pm, with the illumination of the "R" taking place at 6:30 pm. The party is free and all are invited. Vitamin R will be available for $3, and Rainier will provide a free shuttle service between Safeco Field's parking lot and the old brewery beginning at 3:45.
As part of the festivities, party goers will be shown a time-lapse video of the R's construction, along with commentary from Linda Derschang and Renee Erickson (and other notable Seattleites). Mayor McGinn gets ribbon cutting honors.
After the revelry, head to Georgetown, where various bars will be holding their own after-parties. Shuttle service will be provided between the party and Georgetown beginning at 8 pm, with 100 $10 Uber vouchers also being handed out. Do consider getting yourself a dose.
