SEATTLE— Here's a recap of Maria Hines's James Beard dinner last month, courtesy of Civil Eats. The James Beard Award winning chef cooked "A Meal in Three Acts," based around actual bills in Congress. Says Hines, "I wanted guests to know that these are legitimate, submitted bills, not just dreams. We can make the Local Farm, Food, And Jobs Act of 2013 a reality." [Civil Eats]
CAPITOL HILL— CHS has more information on Nacho Borracho, the new nachos and beer place the Montana ladies are creating in the old Ooba Tooba home on Capitol Hill. Not only can diners and cheap-ass beer drinkers expect a Montana-esque look and feel for the new Mexican dive, but Rachel Marshall and Kate Opatz want to transform the space into "a really dark hangout with cacti and more pinatas than you can swing a stick at hanging above." [CHS]
WEST SEATTLE— Redline WS, a new sports bar in West Seattle (that also offers a menu heavy on sliders, wings and pizza) is officially open. West Seattle Blog reports that the place is open 11 am to 1 am on the ground floor of The Residences at 3295, on the southeast corner of 35th and Avalon. [WSB]
