The former Le Gourmand spot in Ballard is coming right along, but not quite ready for a pre-holiday opening as originally hoped.
Jen Doak says the good news is that she's received enough pennies to cover the old Sambar floor (about 100,000). And she's hired all of her staff, including Lieu Hoang, formerly of Poppy, who will join chef/co-owner Mike Whisenhunt in the kitchen as sous chef, and Jeff Steiner from Ray's, who will be heading up the bar.
Says Doak, "At this point, it's safe to say our grand opening will be January 15."
