DOWNTOWNBookstore Bar at the Alexis Hotel is expanding. Starting January 1, the space will undergo a makeover that will add 40 extra seats, essentially doubling the bar's current seating capacity. In addition to offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, Bookstore Bar & Cafe (the official new name) will have a family-friendly nook. Until renovation is complete, all meals can be enjoyed in the hotel's Library Bistro. Bookstore Bar & Cafe is expected to be complete by mid-February. [EaterWire]

CAPITOL HILL— In lieu of regular dinner service tonight, John Sundstrom is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his restaurant Lark by roasting a whole hog. Birthday festivities start at 6 pm tonight and end when the pig does. Cost is $50 per person, with all proceeds benefiting Northwest Harvest. And guess what? There will even be vegetarian options.
