Pam's Kitchen Gets the Boot, Plans Ballard Flagship

Fans of University District favorite Pam's Kitchen need to hold on tight, because according to Seattle Met's Kathryn Robinson, the Caribbean restaurant is shaking things up in a big way.

We'll start with the good news: Eastlake dwellers can get a bite of their favorites at Pam's "Lunch" Kitchen, which opened November 5 (609 Eastlake Ave E). Their menu is made up of the faster, more to-go friendly items from the longer list, including roti and coco-bread sandwiches. According to Robinson, the jerk chicken sammy is still "the crispy, tender, flavorful, fiery triumph" she remembers.

Now, the bad news. One of the reasons for the opening of the second locale is that Pam's is going to get booted out in March 2014 (or so) when the U District light-rail construction is set.

But wait! More good news! Robinson reports that Pam is hoping to open up her flagship in Ballard as a "dinnerhouse" around that time.
