SEATTLE— The chefs participating in this year's Cochon 555 Seattle tour have been determined, and this time instead of five, there are six teams: Jason Franey from Canlis, Johnathan Sundstrom from Lark, Jason Barwikowski from Portland's Woodsman Tavern, Josh Henderson of the growing Huxley Wallace Collective, husband and wife Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi of Joule and Revel, and Shane Ryan from Matt's in the Market will prepare a menu using a whole hog. The competition happens on St. Patrick's Day (March 17) at Cedarbrook Lodge. Tickets are $125. [EaterWire]
CAPITOL HILL— Providence Cicero loves everything from the whimsical decor to the delightful pastry case, buttermilk biscuits, grits, fried chicken and even the "ditzy service" at the popular southern-tinged The Wandering Goose, but still only gives it two-and-a-half stars. [Seattle Times]
BALLARD— Ballard Pizza Company's resident pizzaiola, Israel Santiago, will face off against 11 pizza pros on Sunday, March 10 for the inaugural Toss Like a Boss competition at the Ballard Ave. shop. The noon event costs $20, which buys you a free pizza, salad and scorecard. You'll also get a front-row seat to the tossing action of pie pros from Big Mario's, Piecora's, Zayda Buddy's, Elemental Pizza, Tavolàta, The Hi-Life, and Rione XIII. [EaterWire]
