Local farmers markets just got a little more fun. Under a bill passed today by the Senate, wineries and microbreweries will be able to offer samples at farmers markets across Washington state.
On the Senate Democrats blog, Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Wells says of the libation legislation she sponsored:
This provides a wonderful opportunity for our local vintners and brewers to put their products before a wider audience. This is good for our local farmers markets, good for consumers of wine and microbrews, good for our growing wine and beer industries, and good for our state economy.
The measure enables three wineries/microbreweries a day to offer two-ounce samples at a farmers market. It now goes to Gov. Inslee to be signed into law.
