The Viking Tavern's Last Call is Tonight

Ballard's preeminent dive bar, The Viking, will close its doors for good after service tonight. That roughly translates to around 2 am tomorrow morning.

The bar has been a staple in the neighborhood since 1950.

Ballard News Tribune talked with owners Tim and Peggy Cannon, who say they have a lot to pack up before the building is demolished to make way for the Ballard Lofts project. "It's a legacy," Tim Cannon says. "I'm third generation. But we have all the stories. A lot of it is going to continue."

The couple says they are in talks to possibly relocate The Viking in the new construction, but nothing is final.
