No Luck for Lucky 8

They tried everything, including online ordering, bicycle delivery and a "double happiness hour," but it wasn't enough. Lucky 8's China House has called it quits. The last service was Friday night; a private good-bye party was held on Saturday.

"Unfortunately, we just were not getting enough business to support all the overhead," owner Bracey Rogers told Capitol Hill Seattle.

The location was terrific, across the street from Skillet Diner, on the same block as Restaurant Zoe and literally sharing a wall with Oola Distillery, but early service issues were never quite resolved. Plus, it didn't help that around the same time Lucky 8 opened on the Hill, so did a handful of other Chinese places: Chungee's, Regent Bakery and the now defunct Bako.
