SoDo Showbox Evacuated, FareStart Event Cancelled

During setup for a FareStart fund-raiser at the SoDo Showbox theater earlier today, one of the building's structural beams cracked. As a precaution, the building was evacuated; as a further precaution, the event has been cancelled, according to FareStart's Facebook page.

The planned event, Guest Chef Spectacular, was to feature 20 guest chefs and 30 producers of wine and beer.

"We are happy to report that all food from the evening will be utilized for our shelter meal program and will be delivered to area homeless shelters and will not go to waste," FareStart says.

They also say they will make a full refund to all ticket-holders, noting: "Many of you have asked if you can forgo a ticket refund and make it a donation instead. We are overwhelmed this showing of generosity and support. We will be refunding all tickets, however if you would like to make a donation, please visit our website at www.farestart.org."
