SEATTLE— Seattle didn't produce any winners at last night's James Beard Awards, but Seattle Met has a nice red-carpet slideshow filled with pre-shutout smiles. [Seattle Met]
SEATTLE— As Copper River King salmon season fast approaches (May 16), Puget Sound Business Journal catches up with Jon Rowley, the man behind the fish frenzy. Says Rowley, who is credited with bringing the first Kings to market in 1983, "...one year, President Clinton was speaking at the Rainier Club, and there were more TV cameras at SeaTac Airport to report on the first Copper River salmon of the season than there were to cover the president!" REDMOND— BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse has opened in Redmond Town Center. The 8,500 square foot space seats approximately 260 people and, according to a press-release, "features BJ's extensive menu including BJ's signature deep-dish pizza, award-winning handcrafted beer and famous Pizookie dessert," which is really just a cookie topped with two scoops of ice cream and served in its own deep dish. Hours are 11 am to midnight Sun-Thurs and 11 am to 1 am on weekends. [EaterWire]
SEATTLE— One blog post over on Voracious is getting a lot of attention, all because of pho. The author hates it, which is evidently an opinion you don't share unless you want to piss off a helluva lot of readers. [Seattle Weekly]
