Kirkland Startup Raises $6.5M to Usher Nation Into Paperless Receipt Dining

New, 2 comments

Ethan Stowell Restaurants were some of the first to test out RAIL — an electronic way to pay your bill that was developed by a Kirkland company called Viableware. Now, GeekWire says the startup has raised $6.5 million, bringing total funding to nearly $7.5 million, "with the company still on the prowl for more funding as it looks to bring the technology to restaurants throughout the country."

A video demo of RAIL exists, but basically, the product allows diners to do all of their paying, tipping and bill-splitting via a self-swiping credit card deck that looks a lot like a beefed up check presenter.
