This has been a long time coming. Marjorie proprietress Donna Moodie has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring her popular steel drum plantains to market — something she says has always been a dream of hers. Through her Kickstarter page, an energetic Moodie declares "this unique product deserves a larger audience!" and "this Seattle sensation must be made more widely available!"
The month-long project, which launched June 30, has raised more than $5,000 of its $75,000 goal. According to Moodie, the money raised will be used "for the hiring of food scientists, creating perfect packaging design, securing a production facility, and carefully distributing Miss Marjorie's Plantains to specialty grocers."
