El Borracho Taqueria y Cantina, the year-old Mexican street food stop in Pike Place Market, is expanding to Ballard this fall. Owner Kittie Davidovich says she just signed the lease this afternoon to take over the former Filed House space next to Billy Beach Sushi & Bar. She says the a la carte menu studded with 16 different tacos (including duck, rabbit and lamb) will stay the same, as will the $1 taco happy hour (5 to 7 pm daily) and $4 margaritas.
El Borracho 2.0, however, will be larger (2100 square-feet vs. 1400) and have a horseshoe-shaped bar. "We're a bar first and foremost," says Kittie. "It's called El Borracho (The Drunk) for a reason."
While she doesn't have the hours nailed down yet, she says the new location will likely stay open later than its downtown sibling. Look for El Borracho Ballard to open in November.
