Lost Lake and 5 Point Are Now Selling a Cronut Knock-Off

cronut-collage.jpg
Since word spread that the only known Cronut knock-off in Seattle was no longer being made at Ba Bar (the pastry chef left, production suspended), Lost Lake Cafe and The 5 Point are filling the gimmick void with their own version, aptly named "Cro-Doughs." According to the Lost Lake Facebook page:

[We're] rolling these deep fried doughnut/croissant hybrids in sugar with varying toppings and fillings. Made fresh every morning in limited quantities, the crazy good Cro-Doughs will be available daily starting at 8 am until sold out.

The Cro-Doughs go for $3.75 and there is only one flavor each week at each location. Today's inaugural flavor at Lost Lake is cream-filled and strawberry-glazed. The 5 Point has a fresh raspberry puree and pastry cream-filled number topped with chocolate chips.

UPDATE: Seattle Met reports that Meander's Kitchen will be rolling out a Cronut knock-off tomorrow (September 26) involving bourbon caramel sauce and a Bavarian pastry cream filling. Owner Miranda Krone is offering a $50 gift certificate for the person who can name this creation.
