Allium to Close on Orcas; Gnocchi Next for Nakamura?

After more than three years in service, chef Lisa Nakamura is closing her restaurant Allium on Orcas Island. She made the announcement over the weekend. She tells Eater:

I've had a good run here, and am amazed that people are commenting and emailing me to wish me well, thank me, and asking to keep in touch. It's incredible to me that people have connected with a tiny 35 seat restaurant on a distant island. That in and of itself has made it worthwhile, and I will count that as my success.

Allium's last dinner service will be September 21. Up next for Nakamura:

I would like to open a gnocchi stand next — super casual, counter service, featuring, of course, as much local as possible. Right now it's a dream, but I think I can make it into reality. I have not found a spot, investors, anything like that. I've been just trying to get through the details of closing Allium down as gracefully as possible. That has taken much of my attention.

After years of commuting between city and island life, Nakamura plans to settle down in Seattle with her husband full-time.
