Sweet Story

countryside-donuts.jpgNancy Leson talks to husband and wife Youkhun Taing and Sokngim Lim, who, for the past 26 years, have been running the Countryside Donut Shop in Mountlake Terrace. At age 16, Lim started working for her widowed father in Phnom Penh. Says Leson, "There, she worked the fields, starting at 2 a.m., subsisted on next-to-nothing and lived in a crowded hut. 'They said you were going for three days,' she remembers, 'and you never went back.'" [Seattle Times]
