Sugar Eaters: Violet Sweet Shoppe Is Open on Phinney Ave.

It's vegan, it's candy, it's almost Halloween.

Violet Sweet Shoppe opened a few hours ago in the former Mae's location on Phinney Ridge. Filled with completely vegan edibles, the pretty new space will appeal to anyone who likes sugar: Owner Michael Chinn tells Eater that 80 percent of the customers at his egg, dairy, and butter-free bakeshop in Laurelhurst aren't actually vegan; the same rule is sure to apply at his new Phinney Ave. candy store. Violet will start to serve a few pastries from its bakery in the coming days, but for now it's all about chocolate bars, caramels, lollipops, and bowls of hard candy.
