Caffe Umbria opened a new location in Ballard earlier this month. Along with coffee, the cafe sells baked goods from Le Panier and Macrina, light lunch fare from Volterra, and a selection of Italian wine and beer. Co-owner Jesse Sweeney says in a statement, "The new store is designed to bring the urban European cafe experience to the neighborhood level where people live and relax."

In addition to traditional Italian-style espresso drinks, Umbria's Ballard branch will feature a Moka bar where stove-top espresso will be the signature drink. All blends at the cafe will be offered in this unique preparation. "It's a nostalgic yet delicious way to enjoy coffee, especially for those who grew up in an Italian household," says Sweeney.
