Restaurants Burgled in the I.D.; Best in Show for Wildwood Spirits

INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT -- Several International District restaurants have been broken into in the past week, with hundreds of dollars worth of food and alcohol, including six live crabs, cooking oil, beef, vermicelli and rice paper, and in one case, the restaurant owner's car. AWARDS WIRE -- Wildwood Spirits Co. took home "Best in Show" and a double gold medal for its Kur gin at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. The company, a product of Chef John Howie and Distiller Erik Liedholm, also nabbeda silver medal for its Stark Vatten vodka. [EaterWire]

SWITCHEROOS -- El Gaucho Hospitality Chairman and CEO Paul Mackay announced his retirement after 40 years in the biz, leaving the company's five restaurants in the hands of his son Chad Mackay. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Chad's plans include expanding with restaurants in Oregon and Alaska. [PSBJ]
