Peel & Press Opens in West Seattle; Tavolata's Chocolate Cook-Off

WEST SEATTLE— Peel & Press, the new pizzeria in the former Abbondanza space, is now open in Morgan Junction. Owner Dan Austin is carrying over some of Abbondanza's most successful recipes, plus freshening up the dessert and drink program. [EaterWire]

BELLTOWN— Tavolata's Chocolate Cook-Off benefiting the Children's Hospital Uncompensated Care Fund is on the calendar for November 9. Judges include Il Corvo and Pizzeria Gabbiano's Mike Easton, food writer Julien Perry, and Valrhona Chocolate's Derek Poirier. Participants include chefs from Canlis, Parchment, Old Sage, and more; the first place winner gets a two-day pastry class at L'Ecole du Grand Chocolat culinary school in NYC. $50 tickets include charcuterie, cocktails, and chocolate.
