First comes the sad news that Mo's, the short-lived sandwich shop on Phinney Ridge has shuttered after less than a year. Perk up: Eater has learned that Japanese restaurant Modern is opening before the end of 2014 in the old Mo's space at 6108 Phinney Ave. The sushi and izakaya concept is coming from pastry chef Setsuko Tanaka (owner of wholesale bakery Setsuko) and chef Yashushi Agata (Lower Queen Anne's Sushi Land.)
Modern will be open morning till night, with homemade wagashi -- Japanese traditional sweets -- and pastries served during breakfast and izakaya and rolls offered for lunch and dinner. If the schedule keeps, doors will open next month.
