This Sunday night, members of Seattle's restaurant community are serving a multi-course feast at Novelty Hill Januik Winery to raise money for Tyler Moritz. The Seattle chef is battling stage four bladder cancer and has recently been unable to work.
Moritz has spent time in some of the best kitchens across the city, including Lark, La Bête (which he co-owned with Aleks Dimitrijevic,) Stoneburner, and most recently Zig Zag. Chefs who have worked with Moritz are contributing to the five-course dinner:
Mike Robertshaw of Restaurant Roux and Dimitrijevic of Spaghetti Western (formerly Le Bête) will present passed appetizers during the reception, followed by a five-course dinner prepared by Manu Alfau of La Bodega, Brendan McGill of Hitchcock, Jason Stoneburner of Bastille Café & Bar and Stoneburner, Ethan Stowell of Ethan Stowell Restaurants, and John Sundstrom of Lark.
The event begins at the Woodinville winery at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and cocktails; dinner is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. All funds will go straight to Moritz, including tips. If you’d like to donate now and learn more about Moritz’s treatment head to his Give Forward page; tickets for this Sunday’s fundraiser are over here.
