CAPITOL HILL -- New Indian restaurant Kanak is now open on Capitol Hill's 15th Avenue. Capitol Hill Seattle first wrote about the restaurant back in October, with owner Amar Manhani describing the northern Indian menu as "traditional with an American touch." [CHS]
DOWNTOWN -- This Thursday, the W Seattle's Trace Bar is partnering with the Gin Society for "Ginsation," a complimentary tasting of award-winning local gins including Kur Ginn from Wildwood Spirits Co, Alpinist Gin from Seattle Distilling Company, and Halcyon Gin from Bluewater Organic Distilling. MILL CREEK -- Snohomish County barista Maxwell Mooney of Spotted Cow Coffee Company in Mill Creek won third place in the Big Western Regional Barista Competition last month. Mooney competed with 50 others at the event. First and second place went to Sam Schroeder and Brady MacDonald of Olympia Coffee Roasting Company in Olympia. Seattle's Brandon Weaver of Slate Coffee Roasters placed fourth and Sam Brandvein of Cherry Street Coffee House placed sixth. [EaterWire]
