Five years in, Mistral Kitchen chef/owner William Belickis is venturing into craft cocktail bar territory. The Denny Triangle restaurant (fun fact: Padma Lakshmi ate an "Arabesque meal" there in 2012) is transforming its high-end Jewel Box dining room in the back of the space into Jewel Box Bar.
Jewel Box will serve its own small plate menu with bites that pair well with cocktails and beer: Belickis is planning to offer seafood-centric, spicy Spanish and Korean-inspired dishes, including Korean-style pancakes with octopus and pork belly buns with cucumber kimchee.
The drink list is also separate from the restaurant's bar, with a seasonally changing liquid menu built around Whiskeys and beer. Cocktails will be served in hand-blown glassware by Pennsylvania-based artist Michael Schunke; the artist is also contributing to the space's design.
Jewel Box Bar is on track to open in the last week of November.
