Jason Franey stepped out of the Canlis kitchen for the final time last night, with brothers Mark and Brian Canlis and staff gathering after dinner service to wish the chef well. Via Facebook:

A James Beard finalist and Food & Wine Best New Chef, Franey was the fifth ever chef at the almost 64-year-old restaurant.
Franey has accepted a post at Monterrey, California's Restaurant 1833. Meanwhile, a national search for the sixth chef in the history of Canlis is underway.
