White Center's Zippy's Giant Burgers was broken into last night. Owner Blaine Cook tells West Seattle Blog that a family member who came in to clean the restaurant at 4 a.m. discovered the broken glass and missing items. The cash register and safe were stolen; champagne Cook purchased for a staff holiday party was left behind.
Zippy's posted more details this morning on Facebook:
Bastards..Had to happen . We got broken in to last night. Busted out the emergency exit door. Kicked in the door to the restroom we don't use. Took our cash register. Then the final move. Kicked in the store room door and...that's right they took the safe...did i already say bastards?? We will be open today. Just a bit late. We need to program a new register and wait for the bank to open for some change....I'm going to say it. don't be offended ..MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Zippy's is the latest in a string of business break-ins in White Center; Last month, Dubsea Coffee was robbed (multiple times) in the weeks before its fifth birthday. The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating the burglary.
Zippy's opened a Georgetown location earlier this month at 5633 Airport Way S.
