Bitterroot BBQ Owners Open Mammoth in Eastlake

Hi, messy sandwiches and beer.

Bitterroot BBQ's Grant and Hannah Carter just opened their anticipated second project: a sandwich shop in Eastlake. Mammoth cut the ribbon yesterday in the former Hiroshi's space at 2501 Eastlake Ave. E.

There's a build-your-own sandwich half of the menu, including everything from meatballs and wild mushroom field roast to fried eggplant and cranberry chutney. Things get more interesting with the composed sandwich offerings, including The Predator with fried chicken leg, pork belly, and swiss. And on the meat-free end of the spectrum there's The Wooly stuffed with strawberry jam, cream cheese, and peanut butter.

Chips are made in-house, and if there's room (not likely) Mammoth serves ice cream sandwiches for dessert.
