All read up on new restaurants with the word "borracho" in their name? Wait, there's more: El Borracho Taqueria y Cantina is opening its doors in Ballard at 4 p.m. today...one day after Kate Opatz and Rachel Marshall launched Nacho Borracho in Capitol Hill.
In fact, El Borracho partner Kittie Davidovich keeps finding connections to Marshall. She was going through the historical preservation approval process for her downtown El Borracho location at the same time Marshall was gaining approval her Rachel's Ginger Beer space at Pike Place Market. "I think we're kindred spirits," Davidovich says.
Adding to its Pike Place Market and Frelard stores, the third El Borracho is housed in the former Field House space on Leary Way. Davidovich and partner Adam Pomerleau nicknamed the new El Borracho "the money pit" after a series of delays pushed back the original November 2013 launch date. That makes opening day even sweeter for the pair. "People have been walking by every night asking when we open," Davidovich told Eater earlier today. "We're very excited to be part of the hood."
Davidovich stresses that El Borracho is "super welcoming to families" until 4 p.m., when things switch over to 21+. In addition to $4 margarita all day long, El Borracho's menu features 16 kinds of tacos made with fresh, handmade tortillas available for $1 each during happy hour.
El Borracho is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week. Happy hour runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily.
