Wayne Johnson OUT as Executive Chef at Ray's Boathouse

After two years, Wayne Johnson is stepping down as executive chef at Ray's Boathouse. Johnson announced his resignation this morning. He's leaving the post, says Ray's camp, "in order to pursue other career opportunities and spend time with his family."

"Wayne has put his heart and soul into Ray's for the past two years and we thank him for this," says Douglas Zellers, General Manager at Ray's. "We wish Wayne nothing but the best in this next chapter of his storied career."

Before leading the Ray's kitchen, Johnson completed a 12 year stint as executive chef at Andaluca. He was brought on board in February of 2012 after a nationwide search.

Johnson told Eater in 2012 that he made the move from Andaluca to Ray's because, "I am always interested in expanding and creating all types of foods and flavors; this will allow another set of creative juices to flow."

Executive sous chef Paul Duncan is stepping into a new role as chef de cuisine and will direct Ray's culinary program until a new executive chef is named.
