Travis Rosenthal's Corretto project is back on. A cafe when the sun's up and an antipasti, pizza, and cocktail spot when it's down, the eatery was originally set to open this spring in the Pine + Minor building near Melrose Market before Rosenthal decided to shelve the concept.
Last month, Rosenthal announced plans to take over the Panevino space in Capitol Hill, and now CHS has word that the Tango and Rumba owner has decided to transition the Broadway restaurant into Corretto. Tango/Rumba chef Kelvin Morales is hammering out the menu and Patric Gabre-Kidan is revamping the bar. (Side note: Gabre-Kidan launched The Rhino Room last week on 11th and Pine.)
Corretto joins a handful of restaurants and watering holes that have opened shop on the burgeoning Broadway in recent months, including Nacho Borracho and Witness. The switchover should be complete and new signage installed in the next month or so.
