If you're into culinary adventures, you can't miss Portland's diverse and lively food cart scene. Each morning, more than 600 food carts fire up to bring visitors what CNN calls "the world's best street food." Behind those tiny windows, you'll find some of the city's most creative chefs serving up dishes like vegan pancakes topped with dark chocolate, waffles made in a non-profit truck run by solar-power, and pulled pork fries.

The carts are grouped conveniently in pods located around the city so visitors can choose from a variety of culinary options. It's a quick, inexpensive way to grab a meal that'll top easily top your list of "favorite things I've eaten on the side of the road."
