Hecho started serving taquitos and mezcal mules on Greenwood Ave. this past Tuesday. Owners Chris Gerke (Nickerson Street Saloon, Martino's), Chris Navarra (Prost!, The Ridge, Martino's), and Shannon Wilkinson (Little Water Cantina) announced plans to take over the former Carmelita location last year. Nine months later, the space has been transformed a 110-seat restaurant and bar that extends into a back patio and herb garden.
Small plates (albacore ceviche, brussels sprouts with soy-salsa negra glaze), "street food" (braised beef tongue tacos, quesadillas), and entrees (mole short ribs, goat cooked for 17 hours) are on the menu. The bar is stocked with eight beers on tap, a handful of reds and whites, and cocktails. Hecho is open for dinner seven days a week; lunch and brunch will follow in the coming months.
