Seattle Sounders at Metropolitan Grill; Dine Out For Life Tonight

CANLIS WIRE—Brian Canlis is headed to New York this summer for a three-month sabbatical to help Will Guidara (Eleven Madison Park) launch a new bar. He's calling it a "friendternship" (a.k.a. "apprenticing under a friend.") Mark Canlis, co-owner of the iconic restaurant and Brian's brother, said in a newsletter sent today: "It is a foreign, uncharted move for a company so nightly-dependent upon its owners. The greater risk? Not seeing just how far your people can grow." [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN— Seattle Sounders players Zach Scott, Marcus Hahnemann, Dylan Remick, and Cam Weaver are trading their jerseys for server jackets at Metropolitan Grill on Tuesday, May 13. At the end of the annual Celebrity Waiters Dinner the soccer team members will auction off the signed coats for $250 bucks a pop. Proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Call 206-624-3287 for reservations. [EaterWire]

SEATTLE— Dining Out For Life is back tonight for the 21st year. Almost 150 Seattle-area restaurants are donating more than 30 percent of all proceeds to support Lifelong Aids Alliance. A handful of eateries are contributing half of the day's profits to Lifelong, including Bloom, Fogon Cocina Mexicana, Kedai Makan, McMenamins Queen Anne, McMenamins Six Arms, Nikolas Cafe, and Witness.
