PORTLAND— Three exciting openings in Portland this week, all from faces already familiar in the city's restaurant scene. Chef Oswaldo Bibiano opened the second location of his taquiza Uno Mas, offering two crucial new menu items at restaurant #2: a full bar and breakfast tacos. On the east side, German beer aficionado Dan Hart (owner of popular watering holes Prost! and Interurban) toasted the debut of Stammtisch, a beer hall pouring some German beers otherwise unattainable in the U.S. And finally, SE Hawthorne Boulevard got its own outpost of Blue Star Donuts, whose glazed-to-order doughnuts are also now available in vegan form. VANCOUVER— He's one of the Canada's most celebrated bartenders, but who knew that the Vancouver Eater Awards Bartender of the Year was also a fan of the 80s classic "Cocktail"? Jay Jones writes for Eater Vancouver, arguing that "Cocktail" influenced a generation of bartenders. Another longer read, one of the city's most talented Thai chefs, Angus An's Longtail Kitchen celebrates its first anniversary this weekend. We sat down for an in-depth chat about everything from fine dining to food trucks. [EVAN]

PORTLAND— The third-annual Feast Portland food festival will take over Bridgetown from September 18 to 21, and organizers have revealed the complete chef line-up and schedule for the belt-loosening event. Chefs Hugh Acheson, Dominique Crenn, Paul Qui, and Ari Taymor are among the confirmed guests visiting from outside the PNW, and a few new events—like a "Brunch Village"—are on the calendar. [EPDX]

VANCOUVER— The first spot prawns of the season came in last weekend. We sent a photographer down to Fisherman's Wharf to capture the action of the 2014 Spot Prawn Festival. Keeping things super-sustainable, the Four Season's YEW Seafood chef Ned Bell is famous for his love of sustainable seafood—this Canada Day he's setting off on a trans-Canada bike ride to raise awareness, find out how you can support him.
