Lovers of Biscuits: Morsel is Coming to Ballard

Just a year after taking the reigns from Nook as the University District's favorite biscuit shop, Morsel is expanding to the Ballard neighborhood this summer.

The restaurant that serves cheddar chive biscuits, the Fast Break sandwich, and pickled jalapenos and tomato jam is set to open a new location in the Blue Dog Kitchen space at 5905 NW 15th, with a soft opening slated for July 1 and a blow-out barbeque party set for July 4. Chef Domingo Ramos and lead Morsel man Kekoa Chin-Hidano tell Eater they found the new Ballard location very quickly. "It all just seemed to fall in our lap at the right time," says Ramos.

But what will the new restaurant serve? "We would love to carry over everything that Morsel currently provides for the U-District," Ramos says. "But as always, we'll have fun and play with the menu according to the season and local farmers markets."

Down the road, the new location may serve beer and cocktails, but for now coffee and espresso drinks will be plentiful; Morsel will feature beans from a few roasters.

So how does it feel to open a new location just one year after taking over the shop on University Way? "We couldn't be happier," says Ramos. "To know that we came this far in just one year is so exciting for our business. We feel honored to have the customer base to make this all possible!"

Hours are set for 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with food service starting at 9 a.m.
