In a big win for NE Seattle, Toronado, the watering hole that broadened San Francisco's beer horizons when it launched in the Lower Haight more than 25 years ago, is opening its doors in Roosevelt this summer. Toronado started a second spot down the coast in San Diego in 2008; the upcoming Seattle outpost in the former Mutiny Hall space at 1205 NE 65th St. is the craft beer bar's first location outside of California.

Owner Matt Bonney broke the news on Facebook, writing "...it's with great excitement that I now have a location and hope to be open in two short months!" Craft Beer Monger reports that Bonney is a "well known figure in the Seattle craft beer scene," cutting his teeth at Bottleworks, Burgundian, and Brouwer's.

If Toronado's other two locations offer any clues, prepare for a massive, constantly updated list of hard-to-find beers and a classic pub menu that includes burgers, sausage sandwiches, and mac and cheese. Expect doors to open in mid-July.
