RENTON— Former Ray's and Andaluca chef Wayne Johnson is opening Shuga Jazz Bistro. According to Puget Sound Business Journal, the restaurant-meets-live jazz venue will seat up to 65 and serve a Southern-inspired menu, including fried catfish, gumbo, hush puppies, and fried chicken. [PSBJ]
GREEN LAKE— The Woodland is replacing Boardroom Cafe on Aurora Ave. Seattle Greenlaker reports that the 2,500-square-foot wood-fired pizza spot will also serve house-made sausage, baked pasta, and salads. Doors are expected to open in mid-July mid-August. [SG]
BALLARD— Bastille celebrates Bastille Day July 14 with petanque and a hog roast. Chef Jason Stoneburner will be roasting pig, served alongside baguette sandwiches, cocktails, wine, and beer from Reuben's Brews from noon to 8 p.m. Plus, games of petanque in the lot across the street from the Ballard Ave. restaurant.
