Bluebird's Fremont Soda Fountain Now Open

Well played, Bluebird. After closing the Fremont location of his ice cream shop last winter for a remodel, owner Josh Reynolds tells Eater he's planning a soft opening just in time for the Fremont Fair this weekend, when the streets will be stuffed with people watching the annual Solstice Parade.

Reynolds has installed a vintage, restored gooseneck soda fountain in the store, featuring a working cash register, stools, and a milkshake maker from the 1920s.

Bluebird's Capitol Hill and Phinney Ridge locations will continue to brew micro-batches of beers like Theo Chocolate Milk Stout, but sodas will now be made in Fremont, including homemade root beer for floats.

Regular hours are scheduled to start next week. Also: Starting at 4:30 p.m. today, a Bluebird ice cream cart will be at Populuxe Brewing making floats for the brewery's monthly family happy hour.
