Ballard Beer Company is about to open on Market St., and when it does many of the 15 lagers, stouts, and IPAs on tap will come from neighborhood breweries. The upcoming pub and bottle shop in the former La Tienda space next to Cupcake Royale is owned by Ballard resident Greg Anderson (a beer aficionado with a day job at Boeing) and managed by Lindsey Allison.

"There's nothing like it in the neighborhood," Allison tells Eater. "It just seemed like the perfect location...it's just kind of a gem." She says the bar menu will heavily focus on Ballard and Fremont breweries, plus include two ciders on tap. "There's so much great beer in Ballard, we just want to represent it, she says. The overall community between breweries is amazing. There's not that competitive feeling. We're really excited about being a part of that."

The bottle shop will reach outside of the neighborhood and include options from Seattle and beyond. Kids will be welcome in the retail space (launching after the taproom), but the bar and loft areas will be 21+. In the spirit of breweries, there's no kitchen, but bringing in takeout is welcome. Good thing Po Dogs and Li'l Woody's are so close.

Allison says she and Anderson are "waiting for the perfect moment" to open, which will likely be this weekend or next.
