The latest restaurateur to be lured by Capitol Hill's auto row? Vios owner Thomas Soukakos. Later this year Soukakos is opening Omega Ouzeri in the REO Flats (Point of reference? The huge REO Speed Wagon mural on an outside wall. Truck, not band.)
The menu will be built around "meze" or small plates, plus wine, tsipouro (pomace brandy,) and ouzo (the anise-tinged aperitif.) Riffing off of classic Greek ouzeris, the concept is unique to Seattle: A place to gather, drink ouzo, and eat meze.
Eater's sister site Curbed has more on the building. As for the restaurant, Soukakos is planning to host an "ouzo-giving" (wink) just after Thanksgiving weekend, then officially open shop before the holidays.
