Macaron, wine, and specialty food spot Lady Yum is days away from opening in Kirkland. Megan Gordon began baking cakes under the moniker Lady Yum for special events three years back; her mango habanero, fennel pear, and maple bacon macarons make their debut in a brick-and-mortar at 111 Lake St. on Friday.
It's a classic plan B story: After putting in 80 hour weeks, Gordon quit her job in corporate finance just shy of her 30th birthday to begin baking, soon after focusing on the artisan (and gluten-free) French cookies. Gordon raised $37k in 30 days for the store on Kickstarter, ultimately bringing in $12k more than her first goal.
Lady Yum will be open Tues. through Sat. from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sun. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
