After 28 Years, Wallingford's Erotic Bakery Is Closing

The Erotic Bakery will sell its last penis cake at the end of September. Owner Kimmie Barnett told The Stranger's Bethany Jean Clement that the store, opened in 1986 as Marzi Tarts and renamed The Erotic Bakery in 1999, is shuttering "because she's tired" and, inexplicably, due to a "decline in demand for boob/penis/vulva cakes."

Per the Erotic Bakery's Facebook page, "every penis, breast, vagina and what have you is given individual attention in that none of the sculptures are made using a mold but rather by hand, memory and imagination." To broaden its client base, the bakery also offers tamer cakes for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, and other milestones. Doors close on September 30.
