Miyabi 45th Goes Hawaiian; W.O.P. Pop-Up at Bar Sue

WALLINGFORD—If you thought Miyabi 45th's Hawaiian Nights were as good, it gets better. Chef Mutsuko Soma is planning an entire Hawaiian Week next Tuesday, September 2, through Saturday, September 6. The soba spot will present a menu stuffed with Hawaiian-inspired food and tropical cocktails that features a Kalua Pig roast on Friday and live ukulele music on Thursday and Saturday nights. CENTRAL DISTRICT—Barnacle bartender Jake Vorono hosts a pop-up he's calling (for better or worse) W.O.P., an acronym for either "with out pasta" or "why only pasta?" The 3-course, $35 meal from the former La Bete sous chef and Blind Pig Bistro cook starts at 5 p.m. and includes porchetta "pannino" (veal, mushroom hunters polenta, risotto carbonara,) "world-famous" chicken and waffles, and huckleberry and Tasmanian pepperberry cobbler. SEA TAC—Cedarbrook Lodge hosts its fourth annual Heirloom Tomato Festival on Saturday, September 6. The 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. event features varieties like Amana Orange, Serendipity Striped, and Berkeley Tie Dye prepared in dishes from chefs, including Mark Bodinet (Copperleaf,) Holly Smith (Cafe Juanita,) and Jason Wilson (Crush, Miller's Guild.) Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the event. [EaterWire]
