Portage Bay Cafe Opening in Roosevelt; Damn the Weather's Pastrami Burger

EATER HEATMAPS— The pastrami burger at Damn the Weather gets a shout out on Eater National's 30 Hot New Burgers For Labor Day Weekend roundup. The Pioneer Square craft cocktail bar features the burger made with house-cured, cold smoked chuck, house-made sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, mahon cheese, and pickles. [-EN-]

ROOSEVELT— Portage Bay Cafe is moving into the ground floor of a 3,400-square-foot location on NE 65th and Roosevelt, reports PSBJ. The fourth location of the brunch spot known for its bottomless toppings bar will include a patio and seat 125. Look for a June 2015 launch. [PSBJ]

EXPANSIONWIRE— After rolling out locations in Bellevue and Northgate, Japan-based Kukai Ramen & Izakaya is opening an outpost at Beaverton's Timberland Town Center near Portland. Eater PDX reports that the 60-seat restaurant is planning to open in February of 2015. [-EPDX-]
