The Cheesy Details of the Washington Artisan Cheesemakers Festival

An impressive dairy display, including rind cheeses bathed in beer and cider.

The third annual Washington Artisan Cheesemakers Festival is coming up and sounds as tasty as ever. The event will involve more than 20 Washington cheesemakers showcasing styles ranging from fresh chevre to washed rind cheeses bathed in beer or cider. Be on the lookout, too, for butter, yogurt, kefir, and cheesecake.

New to the festival this year are Appel Farms (Ferndale), Domina Dairy & Creamery (Chehalis), Gothberg Farms (Bow), Monteillet Fromagerie (Dayton), Neighbor Lady Cheese (Renton), and Ring of Trees Farm (Bellingham). Sheri LaVigne from The Calf & Kid is presenting an in-depth cheese seminar, and there will be local beer, wine, and cider for your pairing pleasure. It all goes down on September 27 at the Seattle Design Center, and proceeds will benefit Cascade Harvest Coalition.
