The owners of Ballard's Bitterroot BBQ are launching Mammoth by the end of the year. Grant and Hannah Carter had been searching for the perfect location for their sandwich and bottle shop for about twelve months before finding "a great neighborhood feeling" in Eastlake and signing a lease for the former Hiroshi's space on Eastlake Ave.
Proteins on the "classic, deli-style" sandwich menu will benefit from a round in Bitterroot's smoker to ramp up flavors. Case in point: smoked turkey, chicken, and a Cuban stuffed with pulled pork. The 2,500-square-foot space will seat 80 and include a bottle shop filled with around 200 beers and a growler filling station with 48 taps. Carter expects to have the green light from the city to start construction this week, look for doors to open in three months' time.
