THE SHUTTER— Local burger chain Kidd Valley closed its Queen Anne store on September 1, reports Queen Anne View. A CVS drug store will move into the location. Kidd Valley operates seven other burger shops in the Seattle-area. [QAV]

CAPITOL HILL—Volunteer Park Cafe chef/owner Ericka Burke and cookbook author Amy Pennington are preparing a late summer Chef + Gardener dinner on September 17. Featuring produce grown at VPC, the 6 p.m. event starts with a garden tour followed by dinner: Hop-infused beef broth with herbs and marrow toast, pork tenderloin with spicy arugula chimichurri and charred tomatoes, and more for $45 per person.
