Last month, chef Jason Stratton announced that after eight short months he would shutter his Spanish-inspired downtown restaurant Aragona and replace it with the pasta-centric Vespolina. Both of Stratton's Capitol Hill projects Spinasse and Artusi are thriving, and with Vespolina's debut Stratton, "completes the trifecta for Italian food and drink."
Named after a grape from Italy's Piedmont region, Vespolina's house-made pasta (ravioli with caramelized broccoli, tagliatelle with bolognese ragù) is priced in the mid-teens at dinner.
Vespolina serves weekday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner on Sunday to Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and happy hour Sunday to Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m.
