OLD TOWN — The Portland outpost of Via Tribunali has officially closed its doors. Christopher Gelber, who runs operations for the non-Seattle locations of parent company Caffe Vita, says the Old Town space across from Voodoo Doughnut will become a full-service Caffe Vita. He also announced plans to renovate the NE Alberta coffehouse/roaster and launch at least two more Caffe Vita cafes in Portland.
NORTHEAST— One of Portland's favorite ramen houses is growing. Boxer Ramen has opened a second outpost on NE Alberta. Like the original location Downtown, it's shoebox in size, tucked between Little Big Burger and The Know bar on NE Alberta (conveniently located across from Salt & Straw).
SOUTHEAST — Pioneering food cart, the Grilled Cheese Grill, has shuttered its Southeast location in order to focus on bigger plans. Owner Matt Breslow still owns two other locations, plus a mobile truck. But he's hoping to make a foray into brick-and-mortar territory with a blow-out, late-night diner with a full bar.
